The introduction of 'perestroika', 'glasnost' and 'new thinking' in the domestic and foreign policy fields of Soviet Union during mid-1980s was indeed a landmark development with far reaching implications. Mikhail Gorbachev undertook the task of reforming the Soviet society, economy, polity and foreign policy with the intention of taking the country forward to a new level. The book examines the linkage between the domestic politics and foreign policy of the then USSR and provides a postscript to update the subject matter.
