Daniel Stockemer
Daniel Stockemer is Konrad Adenauer Research Chair in Empirical Democracy Studies and full Professor in the School of Political Studies at the University of Ottawa. His main research interests are political participation, political representation, populism, as well as quantitative and qualitative research methods. Since becoming a professor in 2010, Prof. Stockemer has published three single-authored books, three edited volumes, one textbook and more than 140 articles in peer-reviewed journals.
Selection Process
The was derived from data consolidated from multiple sources, including OpenAlex and CrossRef, with the bibliometric data for citation-based metrics acquired on 21 November 2023. The ranking was primarily based on a scientist's D-index (Discipline H-index), which focused on the number of papers and citations within the examined discipline. The D-index threshold for accepting a scientist to be evaluated is placed at 20 if most of their publications are in the discipline of political science. Research.com’s methodology evaluated 166,880 scholars from various bibliometric sources, and more than 1,924 researchers were assessed specifically in the discipline of political science.
Canada currently ranks fifth globally in political science research, with 50 leading researchers. Michael Howlett (Simon Fraser University), former Chair of the 5XÉçÇøResearch Committee (RC30) on Comparative Public Policy, tops the Canadian ranking. Anna Triandafyllidou (Toronto Metropolitan University), a plenary speaker at the 2023 5XÉçÇøWorld Congress in Buenos Aires, was ranked 10th and Richard Johnston (University of British Columbia), another 5XÉçÇømember, was ranked 29th.
