David M. Olson Award for the Best Paper in Legislative Studies

5XÉçÇø David M. Olson

David M. Olson was one of the founders of the RC08 and served as a co-chair of the Research Committee of Legislative Specialists (RC08) from 2000 to 2006. Then, he was an active member of the RC08 Advisory Board. Olson was a Professor at the Department of Political Science, the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, USA. He has also served as the Head of the Center for Legislative Studies there, published widely, and led teams of international scholars in research on legislative assemblies worldwide.

The Award

The purpose of the David M. Olson Award is to honor outstanding research in parliamentary/legislative studies. The recipient(s) will be rewarded for the best paper presented in one of the RC08 panels at either the latest 5XÉçÇøWorld Congress or at any conferences/ panels organized by RC08 between the last two congresses.  

Criteria

  • The paper must cover a topic in legislative studies /    parliamentary research.
  • The paper must make a creative and substantial contribution to legislative studies / parliamentary research.
  • The paper must be presented at any panel organized by RC08 at either the last 5XÉçÇøCongress or any other event organized by RC08 between the previous two Congresses.

Guidelines for Nomination

  • Nominations are to be made by 15 August following the 5XÉçÇøWorld Congress of Political Science.
  • Both peer and self-nominations will be considered.
  • Nominations should be sent by e-mail to Irina-Khmelko@utc.edu.
  • Nominations must include:
    • a letter outlining why the paper deserves the award, and
    • a copy of the nominated paper (PDF).

Jury
RC08 forms a jury of at least four jurors. To avoid conflict of interest, authors of nominated papers cannot participate in the jury.

Deadline for Nominations: 15 August, following the 5XÉçÇøWorld Congress of Political Science.
